UX researcher role overview
As an iLevelUP UX researcher, you will contribute practical expertise to a nonprofit education product in limited beta. Help the team understand how people experience iLevelUP. Turn careful user research and usability checks into evidence for accessible design decisions.
You will work with the relevant team to agree on priorities, review progress, and document decisions. Because the product is still developing, clear handoffs and useful feedback matter.
What you will own
Your contribution centers on the responsibilities below. First, understand the current work and the needs of your collaborators. Next, agree on a manageable scope with the team lead. Then, share progress and raise blockers early. Finally, document the decisions that your teammates need for the next step.
UX researcher responsibilities
- Plan approved research around a clear question and the needs of the intended learners.
- Use interviews, surveys, observation, and usability checks to gather useful feedback.
- Coordinate participant consent and privacy safeguards with the responsible team before research begins.
- Next, analyze observations and explain patterns, limits, and unanswered questions.
- Share findings with designers, product contributors, and developers so evidence informs decisions.
- Include varied user needs and accessibility considerations in research and recommendations.
- Finally, refine research methods and document the next useful test.
Early deliverables
- First, review the current user experience research work and identify useful next steps with your team lead.
- Next, agree on an initial deliverable, its review criteria, and the people who need to contribute.
- Finally, complete a reviewable piece of work and document what the next contributor needs to know.
UX researcher required qualifications
- Experience in user research, usability testing, or research-focused UX design.
- Skills in interviews, surveys, and usability testing methods.
- Ability to analyze feedback and turn it into practical recommendations.
- Clear communication when presenting findings to a cross-functional team.
- Familiarity with Figma, Adobe XD, or similar tools and collaboration with design and development teams.
UX researcher helpful experience
- Educational or nonprofit platform research experience is helpful.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and research tools such as Optimal Workshop can support this role.

Work with UI/UX Team through approved project tools. In practice, share concise updates, ask for the context you need, and keep decisions in the agreed workspace. For example, explain what you completed, what needs review, and what is blocking the next step. In addition, protect learner and project information when preparing examples or discussing your work.
