Grant writer role overview
As an iLevelUP Grant writer, you will contribute practical expertise to a nonprofit education product in limited beta. Prepare accurate funding proposals that fit iLevelUP’s needs. Connect funder priorities with verified project plans, budgets, evidence, and deadlines.
You will work with the relevant team to agree on priorities, review progress, and document decisions. Because the product is still developing, clear handoffs and useful feedback matter.
What you will own
Your contribution centers on the responsibilities below. First, understand the current work and the needs of your collaborators. Next, agree on a manageable scope with the team lead. Then, share progress and raise blockers early. Finally, document the decisions that your teammates need for the next step.
Grant writer responsibilities
- Research foundations, government opportunities, and other funders that fit education technology and nonprofit work.
- First, document eligibility, requirements, deadlines, and the evidence needed for an application.
- Work with the project team to confirm scope, objectives, budget needs, and supporting materials.
- Write clear proposals and supporting narratives that follow each funder’s instructions.
- Next, coordinate budget review, approval, and authorized submission before the deadline.
- Keep application records organized and report changes, responses, and follow-up needs.
- Support award acknowledgments and reporting requirements with the responsible fundraising contributors.
Early deliverables
- First, review the current fundraising/vc outreach work and identify useful next steps with your team lead.
- Next, agree on an initial deliverable, its review criteria, and the people who need to contribute.
- Finally, complete a reviewable piece of work and document what the next contributor needs to know.
Grant writer required qualifications
- Grant writing experience with a record of securing funding.
- Strong research skills and the ability to assess whether an opportunity fits project goals.
- Clear, persuasive writing and careful editing.
- Organization and time management for several applications and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with a remote team.
- Commitment to Believe in Me’s mission and responsible use of project information.
Grant writer helpful experience
- Funding experience in education, technology, or nonprofit programs is helpful.
- Share only authorized or redacted examples of proposals and supporting materials.

Work with Fundraising Team through approved project tools. In practice, share concise updates, ask for the context you need, and keep decisions in the agreed workspace. For example, explain what you completed, what needs review, and what is blocking the next step. In addition, protect learner and project information when preparing examples or discussing your work.
