System Administrator Volunteer Role Overview

Believe In Me is seeking a motivated and experienced Volunteer System Administrator to join our project team. This role is essential for maintaining the infrastructure that supports our web and mobile platform iLevelUP, designed to assist first-generation college students by providing personalized guidance, college search tools, financial aid information, mentorship programs, and more. The Volunteer System Administrator will ensure our systems are secure, efficient, and scalable, enabling us to make a significant impact on students navigating the challenges of college preparation.

System Administrator Key Responsibilities

  • System Maintenance & Support: Ensure optimal performance of all server and networking systems. Regularly perform maintenance checks, updates, and patches.
  • Security Management: Implement and manage security measures to protect data and infrastructure from cyber threats. Monitor systems for security breaches and respond to incidents with appropriate urgency.

System Administrator Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role. Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) and web server technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of system and network security, database management (preferably MongoDB), and experience with Linux/Unix administration.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and explaining technical concepts to non-technical team members.
